My Biggest Flop of a Purchase

This hood was purchased new from Unlimited Performance Products. I opened it with the enthusiasm of a young kid on Christmas. Instead of being over joyed, though, I soon felt like the kid with a lump of coal in his stocking!

I thought I was getting the hood pictured on Unlimited Performance Products web site. Instead, I got a hood where the hood scoop not only wasn't cut out, but the under side looked like a pre-school project gone bad.

The underside was anything but smooth, the edges didn't meet, there were large gaping holes where the frame didn't meet the top of the hood, and fiberglass strands sticking off like stalagmites (or is is stalagtites), literally 5 inches long, and 4 inches wide. After cutting out the hood scoop, cutting off the stalagmites, repairing all the edges and air holes, and repairing the huge holes in it, it was finally ready for paint, just in time for the Sacramento Mustang open house show.

Since the show (4 weeks ago), the hood has gone downhill. The top has sunken all along the frame. You can actually see how the frame runs now by looking at the top of the hood. The day I painted it, you could see that it wasn't exactly flat. In 4 weeks, it has deteriorated to the point that I will be cutting my losses and tossing this hood for another.

I post this web page, so that hopefully others will not follow in my mistake. I have sent a very polite letter to Unlimited Performance Products telling them of my dissatisfaction, but they have never bothered to respond.
